The delicate white figures in the glass are ashes from the plants that were once there before being burnt off in the kiln. This way, they leave their ghostly image behind. They may seem extremely delicate and even fleeting, however, being trapped in the glass they are eternal.
Please be reminded that my concept is not about capturing solid prints from each plant, but about capturing rather fading and decaying images of living matters - that somehow feels more real to me. So no complaints please if you find some figures imperfect!
All plants are locally sourced in forests in Flanders (Belgium) and then fused in the glass to be permanent. I also try upcycling the glass whenever possible, typically from unwanted or broken picture frames.
Due to the nature of the work, there are sharp parts. Please keep away from small children and pets.
